Carol Heunisch

I’ve been running since about 2005, and I started running to relieve stress and haven’t looked back.  It actually took me about 6 years of running on my own before I ran a local 5 K.  I have been a member of BWRC since it began.  I met a number of people who are club members as part of CARA summer marathon training, which I joined in 2013 in preparation for my first Chicago Marathon.  I’ve run 11 marathons and 2 50K, as well having completed Abbott’s Six World Marathon majors, including Boston 2018 which was more of a swim.  I love being able to run with the group, serve as a pace group leader, and hear stories of how people have gotten into running.  There’s so much fun stuff we share on our runs!  I am also a RRCA certified running coach.  When I’m not running, my day job is a hospital pharmacist.  I am a dog lover and have 2 rescue dogs plus a third who lives with my daughter.  Oh yes, I have a husband too who is supportive of my running and has cheered me on during many of my marathons.  I conveniently live in Arlington Heights, a short 10 minute drive to my favorite running place, Busse Woods!
