My name is Celestine McGee-age 60 from Chicago, Illinois. My running career began at the age of 12. 1/2. I ran around our elementary school with all of my classmates. I came in first and had been interested in running ever since. In my high school days, I came in 1st place in the City of Chicago for the 110 yard low hurdles and when on to be voted Most Outstanding Female Athlete of my graduating class of 1979. I did a short stint in college at Augustana College on a Track
Scholarship and during this time, my first experience with distance ( cross country) running took hold.
Fast forward to today, I am an avid runner of 5K’s, 10Ks, 15K’s, and now Half Marathons. I am a member of the following professional run groups: BCR- Black Chicago Runners. BGR- Black Girls Run, and CARA-Chicago Area Runners Association. In 2020 & 2022, the BCR-Black Chicago Runner awards me with a goal of 3 award plaques for : Completing 65 races in a year, Running my 1st 10K and this year for Running my 1st Half Marathon.
My current run challenge is a Run Day Streak of 155… I am in it to win it🙌🏾… Keep it Moving!!!🤗🏃🏾♀️
